New entry of foreign nationals
Regarding new entry of foreign nationals into Japan, based on the New Border Measures (34) dated on September 26, 2022, prescribed applications in the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up Systems (ERFS) is no longer required.
Visa exemption arrangements have been resumed from 0:00 am (JST) on October 11, 2022.

COVID-19: Current Japanese Border Measures

All returnees and entrants are required to provide either

a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate (3 doses) of vaccines on the Emergency Use List of World Health Organization (WHO)
or
a certificate of negative result of pre-departure COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to departing from the original country/region.

  (1) The certificate must be issued by a government or public institution
  (2) The items must be indicated in Japanese or English
  (3) The certificate must clearly show that you have received 3 doses of any of the following vaccines on the Emergency Use Listing of World Health Organization (WHO)

• COVID-19 Negative Test Result Certificate before departure
  All entrants including Japanese citizens who do not have a valid vaccination certificate must be tested within 72 hours of departure.
  Those who are unable to present a valid vaccination certificate or a valid certificate of inspection will not be allowed to enter Japan, as based on Quarentine Law.

To Anyone Entering/Returning to Japan
As part of border measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), enhanced quarantine procedures are in place for entry to Japan.
Travellers are strongly encouraged to use Fast Track to simplify Japan entry procedures.

• To use Fast Track you must pre-register via MySOS Web (online) or the MySOS app.
• Please complete the pre-registration at least 6 hours prior to your flight’s scheduled arrival time.
• Depending on airport congestion and other factors, quarantine procedures could still take some time even if you use Fast Track. Your understanding is appreciated.
